Safari from the Masai Mara to the Serengeti

10 Nights/11 Days

Day 01: Arrival in Nairobi

You will arrive at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. You will have a full day and night to explore the city's highlights, especially in the lush Karen suburb. We recommend a visit to the David Sheldrick Trust to see orphaned elephants, a stop at the Karen Blixen museum, and a memorable experience with the giraffes at Giraffe Manor.

Day 02: Flight to the Masai Mara

After your time in Nairobi, you will be driven to Nairobi Wilson Airport for a flight to the Masai Mara Airstrip. Upon arrival, a vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to your lodge. The afternoon will be spent on your first game drive in this iconic reserve.

Day 03: Masai Mara Game Drives

Today is dedicated to exploring the Masai Mara, a king among safari destinations. You'll spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives, searching for the Big Five and other spectacular wildlife, including the famously elusive leopard.

Day 04: Cultural Encounters and Optional Activities

Beyond the classic game drives, you can participate in a variety of other activities. Options include a hot air balloon safari at sunrise, a walking safari to experience the landscape on foot, or a cultural visit to a local Maasai village to learn about their traditions.

Day 05: Journey to the Serengeti

Today is a travel day as you cross the border into Tanzania. You will be collected from your lodge for a flight to the Migori Airstrip in Kenya, followed by a road transfer to the Isebania border crossing. After clearing customs, you will continue by road to Tarime Airstrip for your final flight into the Serengeti. Upon arrival at the Serengeti airstrip, you will be met and transferred to your lodge, where you will spend the next two nights.

Day 06: Tracking the Great Migration

The Serengeti is famous for the Great Migration. Depending on the time of year, you may be able to witness the massive herds of wildebeest on their epic journey. Spend the day on game drives, tracking the herds and seeking out predators.

Day 07: Second Serengeti Lodge

You will be collected by your guide and enjoy a scenic game drive as you transfer to your next Serengeti lodge for a two-night stay. Be sure to keep your binoculars handy!

Day 08: Full Day in the Serengeti

Enjoy another day of game drives in the Serengeti. The location of the herds is dependent on the month, but you are guaranteed to see a rich abundance of wildlife.

Day 09: Road Transfer to Ngorongoro

Your guide will collect you for a road transfer to your lodge at the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This journey will take approximately four hours.

Day 10: Crater Floor Exploration

You will rise early for a game drive on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. This area is known as one of the best places in Africa to spot the black rhino. The crater floor is a spectacular, self-contained ecosystem teeming with wildlife.

Day 11: Departure

Your final day begins with a transfer from your lodge to Lake Manyara Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, marking the end of your safari adventure.
